About the Course
This Advanced Arabic Language Course is designed for individuals who wish to study Arabic at an advanced and proficient level. By the end of this course, the student will be able to Read freely without vowel markings (tashkeel), Understand news broadcasts and read general newspapers in Arabic, Speak Arabic fluently and confidently, Perform grammatical analysis (iʿrāb) with mastery, Work with a variety of texts in poetry, stories, and theater, understanding the differences between these literary forms, their characteristics, and prominent Arabic works in each.
Course Curriculum
The Arabic course for advanced learners consists of four educational levels, each covering the following content:
- Level One
- Levels Two and Three
- Level Four
Training in extended reading lessons spanning several pages.
Advanced exercises in reading comprehension.
Advanced exercises in listening comprehension.
Practice in written expression, enabling students to organize and write about topics assigned by the teacher.
Study of advanced Arabic grammar and morphology, integrated into the lessons.
Introduction to the art of theater, its characteristics and components, with applied exercises in simplified lessons on this form of Arabic literature.
Continued training in speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in an organized and advanced manner.
Development of the ability to summarize topics and organize ideas effectively.
Training in listening comprehension summarization, alongside reading comprehension, to fully develop listening skills, supported by various applied exercises to confirm understanding.
Students engage in debates with classmates outside of regular lessons, covering various topics assigned by the teacher, to practice expressing and defending their ideas. This also enhances the use of the student’s vocabulary, thinking in Arabic, and conversational skills in Modern Standard Arabic.
Continued study of advanced grammar and morphology, integrated into lessons.
Study of the art of storytelling, its characteristics and components, with applied lessons in simplified exercises.
Advanced training in using Arabic dictionaries, achieving proficiency in their use.
Training in free reading without vowel markings.
Practice in reading extensively from diverse sources: stories, novels, theater scripts, books, newspapers, magazines, etc.
Listening comprehension practice using daily news broadcasts.
Training in speaking and dialogue through giving lectures, presenting news bulletins, and participating in debates on various topics assigned by the teacher, to develop conversational fluency.
Acquisition of an advanced vocabulary enabling the student to write articles, summaries, and personal notes in Arabic at a high level.
Continued study of advanced Arabic grammar and morphology, integrated into lessons.
Upon completion of this level, students are prepared to study classical reference texts (mutūn) in grammar, morphology, and rhetoric.
